MAN’S RESTORATION, THE NEW
BIRTH OR NEW CREATION: To be born again is to undergo a spiritual
rebirth (regeneration) Jn3:3. It means to be saved; salvation, which means to
be set free from sin and its consequences. It is also called deliverance or
redemption from sin and its effects and it is caused by free will repentance of
the person, faith in Jesus and Grace which is the divine action. The saving of
soul from spiritual death is called salvation while the saving of body from
biological death is called resurrection. Titus3:5; 1Pt1:3; 1Jn2:29; 3:9; 4:7; 5:1-4:18;
Jn1:12, 13. To be born again means to become a child of God, and it is through
belief In the name of Jesus; Eph2:8-9; Acts4:12; Eph2:8; Gal2:16; Rom3:38;
Gal3:11, 24; 5:14; 1Pt1:18-23.
What happens at the Newbirth: According to 1Cor 5:17-21,
the following happens at the Newbirth;
(1)
One is brought into Christ, v17.
(2)
One is a new creature, v17.
(3) Old
things are passed away, v17.
(4) All
things are new. This life is just the opposite of the first one, v17.
(5) All things are of God. A believer
never permits in his life that is ungodly and un-Christ-like, v18, Rom 6:14-23;
8:1-3; Gal 5:16-26.
(6) One is
reconciled to God, v18, Rom5:10; Eph 2:14-18; Col1:20-21.
(7) One has part in the ministry of reconciliation, v18-20, and
1Cor1:18-24.
(8) One is trusted with
the ministry of reconciliation, v19, Mk16:15-20.
(9) One is an ambassador of God in Christ, v20; Pr13:17.
(10) One is made the righteousness of
God in Christ, v21; Rom3:21-31; 8:4
According to Gal4:19, the following happens at the Newbirth;
(1) a moral and spiritual change takes
place, v29; Jn3:1-8.
(2) A change of
heart, will, motive, desires, life and conduct, 2Cor5:17-18; Ezek36:25-27.
(3) A change of masters of the body,
soul and spirit, Rom6:11-23; 8:1-4.
(4)
An adoption of one from the satanic family into the family of God, Rom8:14-16;
Gal 4:5; Eph1:5. (5) A consecration
of the body, soul and spirit to serve God and holiness instead of Satan and
sin, Rom6:16-22; 8:1-13; Col3:5-10; Gal 5:16-26.
(6) A change of nature takes place, Rom3:24-25; 2Cor5:17; Tit3:5.
(7) A renewal in righteousness and true
holiness of one, Eph4:23-24; Col3:10.
(8)
A change of favour, a new standing before God, Rom5:1-2; Eph2:1-9; Tit2:11-14;
2Pt3:18; 1Jn3:8-10.
(9) A change of
character, state and service, Gal5:22-23; 1Cor13; Rom3:24-31; 5:1-11; 2Tim2:21;
Tit2:11-14.
(10) The very moment one
is grown enough to recognize he is a sinner and when he repents, believes and
accepts Jesus, a spiritual and moral change takes place, Mk1:15; 2Cor5:17=18;
Rom1:16; 10:9-10; Eph2:8-9; 1Jn1:9. The very moment he decides to sin again, he
has a moral fall, incurs the penalty of the broken law again and comes under
the sentence of death again, Jas1:13-15; 5;19-20; Rom6:11-23; 8:1-13; Jn8:34;
2Pt2:19-22; Heb6:4-9; Heb10:26-29; Gal5:4, 19-21; 1Cor6:9-11; 1Jn3:8-10. If a
man sins, he must be forgiven and restored or pay the death penalty as in
Gal6:7-8.
